Program Directors

 Dear Playhouse Families,

We have had nine wonderful years of Playhouse and have enjoyed starting and running this program! We have met many, many wonderful families (over 700!) and have made many fond memories with you! We feel blessed that we were given the opportunity to start this unique program for our Parish and be able to do it for all these years!

We want to thank Monsignor Whalen who trusted us and supported us to begin it, Mrs. Carol Artbolino, principal of St. Benedict's School who graciously let us utilize the school for our program, Sister Betty who spiritually guided us and our moms, and our Pastor Stephen Norton who has supported and encouraged us all these years.

After much thought, prayer and discussion, we have decided to conclude Playhouse. We will be retiring due to many factors and hope everyone understands. We want to thank our families throughout the nine years for your generosity, appreciation and love you have shared with us.

Ms. Therese and Ms. Bailey will be at Paddy's on the Bay at 50 Pennyfield Avenue on Wednesday, June 25th between 7-10 pm to celebrate 9 great playhouse years!. We would love if you could stop by and have a toast with us! No RSVP needed.

Thank you,

Bailey Provetto & Therese Cojocaru

Philosophy

Caregiver and toddler are enabled to come together in a Christian environment in order to spend quality time with one another in a comfortable place that provides interactive fun and learning for everyone. We build on the concept that play equals learning. We create fun and interactive play areas and colorful environments, using themes about everyday life and provide steps to enhance creativity and stretch the imagination. Multidimensional, hands-on activities and free exploration will be the basis of the “Playhouse”, while encouraging cognitive, social, gross and fine motor, and language skills. Caregivers, who supervise their child and participate fully, receive support and have the opportunity to establish friendships in our community. Together we can help fortify our Christian Family values, and establish a strong moral, social, and cognitive base for our children to grow on.

The areas of the Playhouse rooms are specifically tailored for infants and toddlers.  Each area is based on the theories of childhood development, multisensory learning, constructivism, and multiple intelligences including: various cultures, social and emotional skills, physical and cognitive development, and varying interest. The “Playhouse” is a “facilitated” play group.

The staff provides enthusiasm and positive input. The “Playhouse” provides a diverse range of activities, while maintaining a consistent schedule and routine, which the children can become accustomed to. These activities include: free play, circle time, arts and crafts, movement, snack time, and story time.

Children are encouraged to participate in activities, however these activities are optional, and children may move about the “Playhouse”, with parent supervision.

The children will always find diverse activities and new challenges through out the “Playhouse” and staff responsibility includes encouraging children and caregivers to challenge themselves to new experiences.

Visually and ergonomically, the “Playhouse” will stand out, emphasizing caregiver comfort and convenience, alongside memorable interaction for their children, as well as themselves. All safety, insurance, and security measures will be taken to safeguard children and guarantee peace of mind for caregivers. Staff has educational and higher learning backgrounds, and undergo infant and child CPR and first aid.

A web site is maintained, in which caregivers can log onto upcoming activities and events. They also are able to access photos of recent parties or events at the facility, which they can download and print.

The “Playhouse” also offers visiting guests, such as puppeteers, magicians, dance instructors, animal trainer/handlers, and topical speakers for caregivers in order to further enhance the educational diversity of our program.
